Assessment
We want to ensure you can effectively summarize and critique a book while demonstrating a strong command of the English language and also using enticing one-liners. While we have professional editors, we seek intelligent reviewers from the start.
Please provide two short samples of book review from books you've recently read. Submit in PDF format.
Our primary objective is to generate compelling and marketable content that can be easily utilized for promotional purposes. We aim for a tone similar to that found in professional reviews, such as those from Kirkus Reviews. We highly encourage applicants to look at professional reviews and front cover taglines on books they own to see the language we are looking for.
Each sample should be approximately 100 words and include:
- The first paragraph offers a concise summary, highlighting key themes and unique elements in an engaging way.
- The second paragraph provides a balanced critique, emphasizing the book’s strengths while addressing any areas of improvement.
- Use strong, impactful one-liners that the author can easily pull for press or marketing. Refrain from using "I" language. For example, instead of "This novel was a great read, I was hooked," you could say, "This novel masterfully intertwines passion and suspense, keeping readers hooked from start to finish."
- Focus on creating punchy, marketable language, ensuring the review serves both as an evaluation and a versatile promotional tool across platforms.
- You can add a personal touch, but the tone needs to remain professional.
We take plagiarism seriously and expect our reviewers to not copy any parts of a book description or opinions from any sources. All reviews must be your own words. We run our reviews through a plagiarism checker. Reviewers caught plagiarizing will be immediately dismissed from reviewing for us.
